Years 3-4

One-off workshop

In this workshop students are introduced to a playful humorous short poem ‘Fried Lies’ by Harry Laing, an acclaimed children’s writer, poet and comedic performer based in the Southern Tablelands of NSW.

Students are encouraged to mix truth and lies to compose a short poem made up of false statements designed to amuse the reader. Students will practice descriptive imagery and rhyme as they cook up their own short poems putting their own spin on ‘Fried Lies’.

This workshop is suitable for students with low literacy and disengaged students who enjoy comedy and an opportunity to be playful with words.
